I need to prove that C = C^1 is a vector space over R. I’ve already proven that any nxn matrix can be written as a sum of a skew matrix and a symmetric matrix. And this is only the beginning. When our prof was telling us that he really wanted to make us sweat over this assignment (so we’d learn more) I should have taken that as a warning that it might be hard and start it before now. I still have two days though! And actually I did most of the first question two weeks ago, and would have done more if I didn’t get stuck on finding the inverse of that stupid matrix with complex numbers. Ah why do I do this to myself….
