I remember learning in school about how the Japanese love their boys, so much that they even have Boys' Day to honour them. Nobody ever mentions Girls' Day, but there is one, held on the third day of the third month. Ceremonial dolls are traditionally displayed... often in very large fancy (but specific) arrangements.
